SIZE GUIDES

Head Guard Size Guide

To determine the size of head gear you'll need, measure the circumference of your head just above the eyebrows. Then use the size chart below to find your correct size.

Important Information Prior to Purchasing Your STING Headguard:

Proper Fitting and Care Considerations:

Choose the Right Size

Measure your head circumference and refer to STING’s size guide on the website.

A headguard that is too tight can cause discomfort and pressure on your head, while one that is too loose may shift during sparring – leading to possible injury.

Consider your age, weight, jawline, and hairstyle when choosing the correct size.

Using too small a headguard over time will overstretch the leather and stitching, causing excessive wear and decreasing its lifespan.

When trying on, and in case of need for return, ensure your face is dry, oil and make-up free to ensure the Japanese Amara is unsoiled and a possible return can be actioned. Returnable items must be in resalable condition.

Adjust the Chin Strap

The chin strap should be snug but not too tight—enough to keep the headguard secure without restricting movement or breathing.

Ensure the strap sits comfortably under the chin to prevent it from shifting during punches.

Secure the Top Straps

Adjust the straps at the top of the headguard to ensure a proper fit and alignment.

These straps help position the headguard correctly so it doesn’t sit too low or too high.

Adjust the Back Strap for Stability

The rear strap should be tight enough to prevent the headguard from slipping forward or backward.

It should provide a snug fit without causing discomfort.

Check Ear Protection

Ensure the ear padding aligns correctly with your ears and provides proper coverage.

The ear openings should allow for good hearing while still offering protection against blows.

Where applicable, the ear strap should align with the middle of the ear.

Ensure Full Coverage Without Obstruction

The headguard should protect the forehead, cheeks (doesn’t apply to open face headguards), and back of the head while maintaining clear vision.

Avoid a fit that blocks peripheral vision or feels overly bulky.

Test Before Competition

Move your head in different directions and mimic fight movements to check for stability.

Light sparring can help determine if adjustments are needed before stepping into the ring.

Regulation Compliance: If competing, ensure the headguard meets the regulations of the governing body (e.g., AIBA, USA Boxing, World Boxing, DBV).

Item Maintenance and Care

Check chin strap and top straps before use.

Wipe exterior clean with a damp cloth after use.

Do not store in direct sunlight, high temperature, or damp environments between use.

Lay flat or as open as possible after use until dry.
